Managing Director
Ranjan brings over 20 years of digital solutions, internet marketing, information technology and interface design experience gained in consulting, direct sales and product development roles. Ranjan has conceptualized and implemented diverse technology and design solutions for leading pharmaceutical, medical device, finance and startup companies, government agencies and non-profits. He is responsible for managing the execution of all design, software and internet related engagements for the company.
Ranjan holds an M.S. in Internet Engineering from Marlboro College and an M.B.A from the University of South Australia.
Ranjan is a published travel photographer (click for portfolio) and a history buff specially interested in the coinage and history of the Indian sub-continent.
Managing Director
Joe brings 20+ years experience in management, branding, operations and advertising for a wide range of companies – from $500,000 start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations. Joe’s expertise in the industry is matching client goals with audience needs and distilling those thoughts into insightful, actionable creative strategy. Joe’s strength lies in his ability to direct both the creative elements along with the day-to-day logistics and operations needed for optimal outcome, particularly when it comes to strategic branding. He is adept at assembling strong teams uniquely suited to each individual client to create successful programs that build strong brand awareness.
Joe began his career in 1988 as an assistant art director at Bozell, Jacobs, Kenyon & Eckhart in New York City, where he honed skills in both graphic design and art direction while working on a large assortment of accounts. Thompson was soon hired away from Bozell by Studio Design, an integrated marketing/advertising firm where he began as both Art Director and package designer. In the eight years Joe spent with Studio Design, he quickly expanded his role beyond creative services to full account management for clients such as Elizabeth Arden, Philip Morris and RJ Reynolds and eventually ran operations for the agency.
These skills served him well in his next role as Partner/ Senior VP of Operations at Channell Communications, where he oversaw key financial accounts including DLJ, Merrill Lynch, and Times/Mirror Publications. Not only was he the point man on traditional media assignments, but also covered everything from web design to conferences and special events.
At Big Apple Design Group, Joe manages both creative and day-to-day operations with his core team of creative and strategic professionals.
Managing Director - New Ventures
George held key business development roles at Grey Group Inc., and was vital in launching Grey’s entry into the financial communications market. In a high pressure, time sensitive environment he has produced messaging content, presentations, websites and media training for mergers, acquisitions, initial public offerings, and secondary offerings. Projects included institutional, corporate and consumer clients for more than fifty companies. During his tenure at Grey, he has worked with top tier investment banks, including Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs, among others, on transactions ranging from $50M to over $3B. High profile clients include; Martha Stewart, Venetian Casino Resort , Perot Systems, Delphi Automotive, Estee Lauder, to name a few. George consulted with clients and investment banks, advising on how to use multimedia to best communicate the company’s message. He directed various multimedia and web developers to fulfill the creative requirements to meet demanding deadlines.
Prior to joining Grey Advertising, George managed his own company for more than 20 years, dedicated to the design and development of communications media that encompassed presentation graphics, video, and print to Fortune 100 companies.
Creative Director
As a hands-on executive creative director Peter collaborates with his team of designers, writers, artists and programmers who translate client objectives into memorable and effective marketing communications tools which builds brand equity – that drive sales, builds awareness and increase message retention. With 20+ years experience, Peter understands how to accelerate branding process to produce creative that move target audiences into action. He has worked with some of the world’s most respected companies including Rockefeller Foundation, Hess, Swatch, Merck as well as start-ups and smaller companies.
Lord was at Grey Global Group for over 10 years where he built a profitable design group within GCI (the public relations arm of Grey), servicing such clients as Chase, Port Authority, IBM and Fruit of the Loom. Then as co-creative director at G2, the 100 person branding arm of Grey, he headed brand development and design for such clients as Pharmacia, Topps, Food Network, and Eli Lilly.
Lord is a graduate of The School of Visual Arts, where he earned his BFA, and has received numerous design and excellence in advertising awards, including The Art Directors Club, The Type Directors Club, Applied Arts, How and Print. He commutes to work each day on a tiny, folding bicycle, holds a patent and loves when clients ask for their logo to be bigger (that last part is a lie). He lives in Manhattan with his wife and perfect daughter.
Information Architect / Digital Designer
A graduate of the Pratt Institute, New York, Toby has over 10 years work experience with on line and traditional marketing initiatives for clients such as Sony Corp of America, Discovery Communications, Pepsico, and Priceline.com. With work experience in interactive firms, ad agencies and marketing firms, Toby has gained extensive knowledge of branding through user experience and effective interface design.
A background in Graphic Design and the Fine Arts has added to Mr. Rosser’s aesthetic approach to developing interactive products. He has lead design and architecture teams on corporate, real estate and entertainment initiatives.
Managing Partner
Raj couples a degree in Electrical Engineering with an M.B.A. in Finance focusing on both the implementation of technology in creating business solutions, and the online strategy for Big Apple Design Group’s customers.
With a strong background in technology, Raj has been an early investor in many technology companies, and in 1999 founded Coolaudio.com, a Blackstone Group, backed venture, which was later sold to a Public company. Raj has a strong knowledge of the latest Internet Technologies, including HTML, PHP, JavaScript, SEO/SEM, giving him the ability to understand the specific uses of these technologies in enhancing and improving on-line business processes and new ventures. Over the last 15 years, Raj has used these skills to identify and invest in undervalued situation in both the Equity and Real Estate Markets where he ran multiple funds and partnerships.
Raj has been featured in various publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Observer, Bloomberg Personal, India Abroad, Inc. Magazine, Hampton’s Magazine, Crains New York Business, The Industry Standard, Silicon India, Entrepreneur’s Business Start Ups, Entertainment Weekly, USA Today’s Technology Lane, Interactive Media and Marketing, Investment Dealers Digest, The Absolute Sound, Stereophile Magazine, and the Columbia Business School Alumni Magazine. He’s also been a guest on CNBC’s Street Signs with Ron Insana and CNNfn’s Entrepreneurs Only with Tony Guida. Most recently, Raj has been featured on Fox Business News, NPR, and the CBS evening news.
In addition to Big Apple Design Group, Raj is presently working on continuing the growth of his CT project, Willow Creek Farm, one of CT’s top Equestrian Centers since 2000. With the approval of 21 home sites, overlooking this picturesque facility, Willow Creek Estates will be breaking ground in early 2012 in order to create one of CT’s most coveted gated 100 acre communities. In addition he is an Executive Mentor at Columbia Business School helping students structure and launch real world businesses.
Raj is a 1987 graduate of Lehigh University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and a 1995 M.B.A in Finance from Columbia Business School. Raj is an instrument rated pilot in a Cirrus SR22. He resides in Manhattan and has two incredible and active sons, Remy and Jesse!
Corporate Strategy Advisor
Richard Mgrdechian is the founder and President of Terabit Media Corporation, a media technology and content development group. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the prestigious California Institute of Technology (Caltech), along with an M.B.A from Columbia University in New York. His prior careers have included positions as a NASA engineer, investment banker at Bear Stearns, The Blackstone Group and other advisory organizations and high-tech CEO. Richard was the founder and president of two Silicon-Valley start-up companies in the areas of telecommunications and social networking, the second of which was acquired by Yahoo, where the Java/J2ME based software he developed (US Patent Number 7,545,784) is expected to comprise a core element of their next-generation mobile offering. Additionally, that company (Vicinity Messaging) was one of the first players in a field that would ultimately spawn companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and others.
Mr. Mgrdechian has been active in the political arena for nearly ten years, having written two books, over a dozen articles and appearing as a guest or commentator on nearly 30 political talk shows. During this time he has developed numerous relationships with conservative media outlets, pundits, publicists, bloggers and other resources valuable to the growth and success of Terabit Media. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Internet Solutions Developer
Sean has over ten years of experience with a variety of advanced programming languages and frameworks including .NET, C++, PHP, MySQL, MSSQL, Javascript, LAMP, WAMP and others. Additionally, he is extremely familiar with a variety of leading-edge internet technologies, and has specific expertise in several key areas including social networking, search engine optimization and online video. Prior to joining the team, he served as a technical and programming consultant for several other web companies, working for numerous start ups as well as several well known companies. Sean has studied at the Delaware Institute of Technology and is always working to learn more about the latest developments in his field of interest.
Front End Developer
Kristen is a creative Front-End Developer with over 20 years of experience in web development and client relations. She is well versed with agile methodologies in all phases of the development life cycle for Web and Mobile related applications, specifically focused on Responsive Web Design, Cross Browser Compatibility and Performance Optimization. Most notably, she is an expert in Content Management Systems, Bootstrap, Front-end Contact Frameworks, and SEO Technologies. She started her Development path in 1999 and worked under contract for numerous clients ranging from local Mom&Pops to Fortune-500 companies. She obtained her B.S. in Web Development in 2007 and has continued to grow with the times to stay with the most up-to-date technologies.
