Do not Waste Money Buying Mass Quantities of Backlinks on Ebay or Elsewhere – It Will Not Help SEO
“There’s a sucker born every minute”. This is a phrase often attributed to P. T. Barnum. I am not sure whether the attribution is correct but the phrase is true. And this truth is being applied to SEO.
There are vendors on eBay and on other sites advertising, 100s of in-bound links overnight from social media sites, websites and blogs. All of which imply indirectly that you will achieve great wealth and success if you pay these operators $20 – $50 to do so.
Yes, you’ll get the links in the “blog comment area”, “forums”, and various other places that allow social commenting.
You will be sent an Excel spredsheet or a PDF with links to places your website has been linked to. And your links can can be verified.
All of this link building process is automated using hacker softwares such as “XRumer” or “ScrapeBox”. And all of this is essentially useless if you’re a legit operation/business.
Here’s why:
- If you have a link on a web page with a high “PR” rank (the weight given to a web page by Google) this is good.
- If you have a link among thousands on such a page, your gain is next to nothing. These page that allow commenting with links are usually exploited overnight.
- If you have a link among thousands on such a page with a rel=”nofollow” link attribute, its guaranteed that Google and no other search engine is going to care about any of the links with this attribute.
Most importantly, these software exploit a webmaster’s carelessness. And this is a temporary exploit. The moment a webmaster notices that his/her blog or website or forum is getting spammed they will first bulk delete all of these fake postings/comments and put into place measures that will prevent further postings.
The only loser here is you, if you have already paid up.
A $50 to $200 investment will get you “bupkis”. You’re better off saving it.
Additionally, getting all of these 1000s of links overnight will risk getting your website sandboxed by Google.
Let me sum up the process of securing backlinks for the purpose of SEO:
SEO is easy, everyone with some web expertise can do it because the barrier of entry is an internet connection and a computer and some HTML knowledge. Getting SEO that produces results that translate to business advantage is a different matter.
You need to find a webmaster you controls many hundred high ranked websites and you can guarantee that the links are permanent.
This is the only way to get guaranteed back-links that will work for you.
